Hi my name is Jake Leck and I am your blog writer today. I am writing about our class, LAVA - Room 6/7 and what we have been doing since we came back to school from the holidays.
We have been building shelters for the wildlife, just like these block boys Sam and emmet. Have been watching the block nz girls vs boys? Well, they have been making houses for auction day. We were only allowed 3 materials out of timber non treated and cardboard boxes and rubbish bags and foam. My team used timber, a rubbish bag and a card board box. It also had to be waterproof.
This is my teams shelter.
We have also been doing scale drawings in lava. We used our shelter to mesure and we had to draw it in the 3D. It was pretty tricky but i enjoyed it and I thought that it was fun to learn something new. i really liked the look of my scale drawing when it was finshed.
This is what my scale drawing looks like
From the scale drawing we went on a programe called tinkercad. it is a website that you can go on and make things out of blocks and it is pretty tricky. However, once you get the hang of it it is just like a normal actvity.
We have also been doing karakia. if you don’t know what karakia is it is moari singing. And a prey we do it every monday and sometimes on fridays we stand in a big circle. Then mrs gordon our music teacher asks someone to lead the kadakia then we all sing.I enjoy learning kadakia because it is a diffrent language and it's cool to know all different languages.
I have also been learning mandarin lessons with Jackie our mandarin teacher. She is fun and again it is fun to learn new languages. She is helpful. Everybody wants to go to mandarin lessons in my classroom. She is from China and is nice to be around.
